Viking Expands Its Ocean Fleet with the Delivery of Viking Mira

Viking has officially welcomed its newest ocean vessel, Viking Mira, marking another milestone in the company’s continued expansion in the luxury cruise market. The ship was delivered at Fincantieri’s shipyard in Ancona, Italy, becoming the 15th ocean ship in Viking’s growing fleet.

Designed around the brand’s signature small-ship concept, VikingMira accommodates up to 998 guests across 499 staterooms. The vessel continues Viking’s focus on destination-focused cruising paired with elegant Scandinavian-inspired design and personalized onboard experiences.

According to Viking President and CEO Leah Talactac, the addition of Viking Mira creates new opportunities for travelers seeking immersive journeys around the world. The cruise line continues to attract guests interested in culturally enriching itineraries while maintaining a refined and intimate onboard atmosphere.

The ship is scheduled to begin its maiden voyage on June 5 with a seven-day Mediterranean sailing from Rome (Civitavecchia) to Barcelona. Planned ports of call include Livorno in Italy, along with Cannes, Marseille, and Sete in France. During its inaugural season, Viking Mira will operate itineraries throughout the Mediterranean and Northern Europe.

The delivery of Viking Mira also highlights Viking’s broader investment in the future of sustainable cruising. The company is preparing for the arrival of Viking Libra, expected to become the world’s first hydrogen-powered cruise ship capable of operating with zero emissions. Currently under construction at the same Fincantieri shipyard, the vessel is scheduled for delivery in late 2026. Viking also plans to introduce a second hydrogen-powered ship, Viking Astrea, in 2027.

As demand for premium cruise experiences continues to rise, Viking’s latest fleet additions reflect the industry’s growing emphasis on both luxury travel and environmental innovation.
